What We Think About

This is where the New Orleans Libertarians can express their thoughts.

Our Thoughts

"Cashless"fest 2023

Attention fellow Libertarians:

Jazzfest has announced that they are going cashless this year. They have coerced their vendors into refusing to accept our traditional medium of exchange. This follows a disturbing trend we have been seeing in the World lately where many businesses are opting for the digital format as their sole form of payment. I'm sure most of you are aware of the ramifications of such methods as it applies to our privacy and freedoms.

My philosophy has always been, "If you don't hold it, you don't own it." If the last few years have taught us anything it's that it is much easier to take something from you if you don't have physical possession of it. Think of those Canadian truckers who had their bank assets frozen for merely protesting tyrannical lockdowns. This happens in our own country as well, GO Fund Me has confiscated donations from causes not deemed "worthy", people have lost bank accounts for holding the "wrong" opinions.

Where does this end? In a digital gulag where every transaction you make or dollar you earn is tracked and can be stopped if your business violates the orthodoxy of the current "thing". Even if you said/did it years ago, "You are on the list!"

I, for one, do not plan on attending Jazzfest this year. The way I see it if my money isn't good enough for them, then my business isn't either. I encourage all of you to do the same. Some may argue that it's only a minor inconvenience, why let it spoil a good time? I'll tell you, because it's a slippery slope. Today it's cashless crawfish bread, tomorrow it will be cashless gas (if your "carbon footprint" allows), cashless booze, and cashless weed (if applicable). God forbid if you are a waiter or bartender. Get ready to have ALL of your meager tip income reported to Big Brother, so he can get his cut. You are being conditioned to ween cash out of your life. I will not comply and, if enough of us take a stand here, perhaps they will give second thought to these authoritarian commercial policies.

Is it really worth it just to be entertained by people who hate you?

Yours in Liberty,

The Failed War on Drugs

My heart breaks for Rebecca Kiessling and her 2 sons who were poisoned and died from illegal drugs that are flooding across OUR borders every day from Mexico, South America and China. It was reported that the Libertarians "blamed the victims". I say, "Shame on any Libertarian who blames any victim of this countries insane "War on Drugs". The War on Drugs is the War on US! We have no way of knowing or holding accountable the countries and cartels that are smuggling these drugs across OUR borders. Legalization would create an accountability and transparency about these drugs. We could hold the growers/manufacturers accounting for their product. It would create standards for disclosure of exactly what is in each product. End the War and Drugs!!! And Libertarians...Please! Have some compassion for fellow Americans who are suffering great loss and tragedy from OUR governments insane War on Drugs.
